The use of commonly used automotive maintenance tools
1、 Wrench
Commonly used wrenches include socket wrenches, ring wrenches, open end wrenches, torque wrenches, ratchet wrenches, etc.
(1) Socket wrench
When disassembling bolts and nuts for vehicle maintenance, priority should be given to using a socket wrench. When using, hold the socket with one hand to prevent loosening, and pull the handle with the other hand to disassemble the bolts or nuts.
(2) Box wrench
The ring wrench is suitable for disassembling bolts and nuts with a diameter of 5-27mm. The end of the ring wrench is similar to a socket, with 12 or 6 corners, which can firmly hold the head of the nut. It is not easy to slip during operation and is relatively safe, so it has a wide range of uses. When disassembling, hold it in the back position for disassembly.
2、 Screwdriver
A screwdriver is a tool used to tighten or loosen slotted screws. According to the shape of the head, there are two common types of screwdrivers: flat and plum blossom. When using, the blade end of the screwdriver should be flush and consistent with the width of the screw groove, so that the screwdriver edge and the screw groove are completely matched. There is no oil stains on the screwdriver. After the centerline of the screwdriver is aligned with the centerline of the screw, turn the screwdriver to tighten or loosen the screw.
3、 Jack
Jacks include hydraulic jacks, screw jacks, and hydraulic elevators; Hydraulic jacks are often used in cars, and there are two common types of hydraulic jacks: vertical and horizontal. Before using the jack, tighten the switch and cushion the wheels with triangular wood; When using on soft road surfaces, wooden blocks should be placed under the jack; Place the jack, align it with the area being lifted, use a pry bar to continuously press the handle, and lift the heavy object. Sometimes, use it together with a horse stool. When falling back, do not work under the car; Slowly loosen the switch and the heavy object will slowly fall.
4、 Shock absorber spring clip
When using the shock absorber spring clip, firmly clamp both ends of the spring and place the two spring clips symmetrically. Use a wrench to twist the screw. Note that the two spring clips should be tightened synchronously.
5、 Lama
Pulling horses are commonly used for disassembling bearings, pulleys, etc. There are two common types: two claw and three claw. When using a pulling horse, first choose the appropriate position based on the size of the pulled part to ensure that the claw of the pulling horse is fixed, and then use a wrench to tighten the screw.
