10 categories of commonly used wrenches

Wrench is a commonly used tool in daily life, ranging from machinery and vehicles to household appliances, and its shadow is not difficult to see in repairs. A wrench is a manual tool that uses the principle of leverage to turn bolts, screws, nuts, and other threaded fasteners. Most wrenches are made of structural steel made of carbon or alloy materials. There are openings or sockets for tightening bolts and nuts at one or both ends of the handle. When using, apply force clockwise or counterclockwise on the handle according to the situation to tighten or loosen the bolts and nuts. There are also many types of wrenches, and today we will introduce a few commonly used wrenches.

1、 Dumb wrench

Dumb wrenches, also known as dead wrenches, are divided into double headed and single headed wrenches. It refers to having a fixed size opening at one or both ends of the handle. Generally, a solid wrench is forged from high-quality medium carbon steel or high-quality alloy steel, which is easy to operate, structurally stable, and has strong impact resistance. It is suitable for use in narrow spaces with little force.

2、 Box wrench

A ring wrench refers to a wrench with two flower shaped rings, and the radii of the two flower rings are different. Holding the handle horizontally will reveal that the two flower rings are staggered from top to bottom. The radius of the ring of a ring wrench is divided into different specifications and sizes. When using it, it is necessary to choose one that matches the size of the bolt and nut. It is best to operate it with both hands simultaneously to ensure that the ring wrench is fully compatible with the bolt and prevent slipping.

3、 Dual purpose wrench

A dual-purpose wrench combines the requirements of a solid wrench and a ring wrench. One end of the handle is a flower shaped solid wrench, and the other end is a fixed size solid wrench. For users who operate relatively simple mechanical equipment, it can be said to kill two birds with one stone. Both sides can be used for bolt installation and disassembly.

4、 Monkey wrench

A live wrench refers to a tool that can adjust the width of the opening within a certain range, with four fingers tightly gripping the handle and the thumb adjusting the size of the wrench opening by sliding the roller. It is a relatively flexible tool for tightening and loosening fasteners, and can adapt to different specifications of bolts and nuts. When pulling a large nut, it often requires a large torque and space. The hand needs to grip the end of the handle with force, but steel products cannot be used to extend the handle to increase the torque.

5、 Hook wrench

Hook shaped wrench, also known as crescent shaped wrench, commonly known as hook plate, is used to turn flat nuts with limited thickness, and is specifically used for dismantling round nuts on vehicles and machinery. Adjustable head, suitable for the simultaneous use of multiple round nuts, with a wide range of applications.

6、 Socket wrench

A socket wrench refers to a wrench with a hexagonal or hexagonal hole on the handle, commonly consisting of two headed, three headed, and multiple movable sockets on the same handle. Suitable for bolts and nuts with very narrow turning space or deep indentations that cannot be directly used with a solid wrench or a ring wrench. The main advantage is that the lever arm with a movable sleeve can be flexibly selected according to needs.

7、 Internal hexagonal wrench

The internal hexagonal wrench is an L-shaped hexagonal rod wrench specially designed for turning internal hexagonal screws. It can also move in narrow spaces, with high torque, good toughness, durability, and various specifications suitable for various working conditions. It is commonly used for repairing motorcycles, electric vehicles, machinery, digital products, and furniture.

8、 Torque wrench

Compared with the above wrenches, torque wrenches are more user-friendly. When tightening bolts and nuts, the applied torque can be automatically adjusted. When the torque reaches the set value, a sound will be emitted to remind the operator that it has been tightened, without the need for further force, avoiding thread damage due to excessive operating force.

9、 Impact wrench

Knocking wrenches are large tools mainly used in industries such as oil extraction, petrochemicals, and ores. The handheld end is the tapping end, and the front-end is the working end. Wide application range, sturdy and durable.

10、 Multi functional quick wrench

Multi functional quick wrenches are also available in single headed and double headed sizes, with different head widths and multiple specifications to meet various needs. There is a tight tooth pattern design added at the tightening point of the wrench, which can be easily twisted without slipping, regardless of whether it is circular, square, or polygonal.
